The Immigration Dilemma: The U.S. and Europe Compared


Terri Givens, Associate Professor in the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin, is an expert on immigration issues in the U.S. and European contexts. On June 22, she was the guest on Focus 580, a live radio interview program broadcast by Champaign-Urbana's NPR station, WILL-AM 580. She delivered a public lecture and keynote address at the University of Illinois EU Center's 2011 summer curriculum development workshop.

Professor Givens has done extensive research in various EU countries and published widely on topics of immigration, security, political parties, and European integration. She is a Distinguished Scholar in the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Law and Security, and was formerly Vice Provost, International Activities and Undergraduate Curriculum; Director of the Center for European Studies;and Director of the France-UT Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies. Givens is also a regular columnist for Inside Higher Ed magazine, a passionate runner and cyclist, and advocate for various health issues.
